Walk slowly ("pole pole"), stay hydrated, and choose longer routes for better acclimatization. Consider taking diamox as a preventive measure.
Layers are key! Bring moisture-wicking base layers, insulating mid-layers, waterproof outer shell, and warm sleeping bag (-10ยฐC rating recommended).
The best months are January-March and June-October. These periods offer the clearest skies and best conditions for summit success.
Start training 3-6 months before. Focus on cardiovascular fitness, strength training, and practice hikes with a loaded backpack.
